Lost and Found

Summary: It is the responsibility of Cab Owners (Certificate Holders) to assure drivers preserve items left in their cabs. If your cab was dispatched through the RTS Digital CAD-GO reservation system the items are to be turned into our office within twelve hours. If you rode in a non-member cab you must contact that company.

RTS offices are located at 3122 West Marshall St. Richmond, Virginia 23230. Please call (804) 354-8230 to inquire and arrange for pickup by yourself or authorized agent. A valid ID and signature receipt will be required.

CODE OF ORDINANCES, City of RICHMOND, VIRGINIA; Codified through Ord. No. 2005-206-182, enacted Sept. 12, 2005. (Supplement No. 2, Update 1) Article 110 Sec. 110-58. Lost and found property.

(a) It shall be unlawful for a driver to knowingly fail, refuse or neglect to preserve any property left in a taxicab by any passenger and to thereafter deliver it to the certificate holder.

(b) Each certificate holder shall carefully preserve all property left in a taxicab by any passenger and delivered to the certificate holder by a driver, which property shall be kept by the certificate holder at some convenient place within the city where it may be called for by its owner. When the property shall have been identified and ownership established, it shall be promptly delivered to its owner. Any property which shall not be called for within three months may be disposed of according to law.
